PM Phuc begins official visit to Japan

AsemconnectVietnam - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife and high-ranking delegation arrived at Haneda International Airport, Tokyo on the afternoon of June 4 (local time) for an official visit to Japan and the 23rd International Conference on the Future of Asia.

Those among welcoming guests included Japan Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda and his wife, Japanese Foreign Minister Kiyoshi Odawara and Japanese Foreign Ministry staff, Vietnam Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong and his first lady, Vietnam embassy staff along with Vietnamese community representatives in Japan.
According to the agenda, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will hold talks with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe, meet with the Emperor and Empress of Japan, and have meetings with parliamentary leaders, the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance (JVFPA), and business representatives from economic cooperation organizations.
Right after his arrival the same day, the Vietnamese government leader met with the Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture and talked with Vietnam embassy staff and Vietnamese community representatives in Japan.
He glowingly spoke of sound performance and contributions the embassy has made in strengthening Vietnam – Japan intensive strategic partnership across a variety of fields.

Phuc said the embassy has made thorough preparations for the schedule of his current visit to Japan and participation in the 23rd International Conference on the Future of Asia.
He asked the embassy and Vietnamese nationals to further bilateral cooperation programmes in a multitude of fields and suggested the embassy intensify the protection of Vietnamese nationals in Japan and support the expatriates in their living and studying.

On June 5, the PM is to give a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 23rd International Conference on the Future of Asia and at the investment promotion conference, and witness the signing of a number of cooperation documents between Vietnamese and Japanese companies.
The PM’s visit and attendance at the conference reflect Vietnam’s respect for and determination to deepen its extensive strategic partnership with Japan in all aspects. 
The visit also aims to reinforce the comprehensive economic cooperation between Vietnam and Japan at the central and grassroots levels and promoting discussions on regional and global issues. 
It signifies Vietnam’s active role in the region and its stance on globalization amidst challenges in Asia.
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc's Japan trip from June 4-8 is being made at the invitation of Japanese PM Shinzo Abe.
