The government leader praised the unceasing efforts made by intellectuals and scientists in researching the technological solutions directly contributing to the country’s socio-economic development, while hailing them as the key force to create and disseminate knowledge. He asked VUSTA to continue gathering the power of intellectuals from both at home and abroad to provide consultations for the Party and the government concerning key issues in national development guidelines and policies, and effectively implementing consultancy and social criticism and expertise activities in building policies and big socio-economic projects at both central and local levels. VUSTA should create favorable conditions for intellectuals to take the lead in popularizing the quintessence of human knowledge, focus on removing difficulties and institutional obstacles hindering the development of science and technology and pay attention to training the staff of scientific and technological intellectuals, PM Phuc said. He urged the union to work closely with ministries and agencies, particularly the Ministry of Science and Technology, in order to closely keep up with real demands and develop more practical and effective topics, projects and programs serving national socio-economic development. VUSTA was also requested to boost international cooperation to take advantage of foreign knowledge resources and technological advances. At the meeting, the PM directed the handling of the specific recommendations proposed by VUSTA. By Vien Nhu
