PM: VN advocates enhancing ties with Greece

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has asked the Vietnamese and Greek governments to boost ties across the marine-based economy, maritime navigation, shipbuilding, agriculture and tourism, adding that Viet Nam advocates enhancing ties with the European Union, including Greece. 

During a reception in Ha Noi on February 13 for Greek Foreign Minister N. Kotzias, Phuc said given the 40-year cooperation since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties, the two countries need to facilitate visits at all levels and channels, thereby raising mutual understanding and collaboration in potential fields between the two nations. 

Israeli President’s Viet Nam visit to boost bilateral ties: ambassador

The upcoming visit to Viet Nam by Israeli President Reuven Rivlin will open many opportunities and prospect for stronger cooperation between the two countries, stated Israeli Ambassador to Viet Nam Meirav Eilon Shahar. 

The two countries boast a great potential for cooperation in many fields like health care, defense and IT, the diplomat said during a reception given by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Ha Noi on February 13.

She said she hoped a business forum will be held on the occasion of the visit to boost trade links between the two countries’ enterprises, adding that Israel is expanding investment in Vietnam, especially in training human resources and, receiving Vietnamese citizens to Israel to study agriculture and start-up. 

Greek hopes to promote ties with VN

Viet Nam and Greece have agreed to promote negotiations and early sign agreements on double taxation avoidance and maritime transportation.  

At the invitation of Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh, Greek FM Nikos Kotzias is paying an official visit to Viet Nam from February 13-14.

The two FMs held talks on February 13 in Ha Noi to discuss ways to beef up the bilateral ties and regional and international issues of common concern.

Nha Trang to host 2017’s first APEC Senior Officials Meeting

The first Senior Officials’ Meeting of APEC (SOM1) and related meetings in 2017 will be organized in Nha Trang city, the south central province of Khanh Hoa, from February 18 to March 3.

The meetings will be attended by 1,500 delegates from 21 member economies of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Council, the APEC Business Consultation Council, and some international and regional organizations along with business representatives.

The events will comprise 56 meetings, workshops and dialogues of 38 APEC committees and working groups across many fields like trade and investment liberalization, business facilitation, natural disaster response, human resources development, education, businesspeople travel facilitation, ocean and fishing, e-commerce and services.

Con Son-Kiep Bac Festival: Ritual prays for peace

A heaven and earth sacrifice ritual was held on February 13 at Ngu Nhac Mountain in Con Son – Kiep Bac special national relic site in the northern province of Hai Duong.

The activity, which is part of the Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival 2017, takes place annually on the 17th day of the first lunar month with the aim to pray for peace, prosperity and development.

After the ceremony, local authorities presented five types of cereals including corn, rice, bean, peanuts and millet to participants.

Vietjet to launch Da Nang-Seoul route

The budget carrier Vietjet Air will launch daily flights from the central city of Da Nang to Seoul (the Republic of Korea) on May 31 in a bid to meet the increasing travel demand of tourists and business people.

Flight time between the two destinations will be four and a-half hours. The flight from Da Nang will depart at 23.45pm and arrive in Seoul at 6am (local time). The return flight will take off at 7am (local time) and land at 9.40am in Da Nang.

In celebration of the new route and on the occasion of Valentine’s Day, the airline will run a three-day promotional offering of 500,000 air tickets priced from only VND 5,000 (15 US cents) starting from February 14 to February 16.

Hoang Sa, Truong Sa exhibition comes to Thai Nguyen

Some 150 maps, documents and objects on Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos are being displayed at an exhibition opened in Dong Hy district in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on February 13.

Exhibited materials are in Chinese, Nom (old Vietnamese writing using Chinese characters), modern Vietnamese and French issued from the 17th to the 20th century by the Vietnamese feudal states and the French government in Indochina (on behalf of the then Vietnamese state)./.
