Vietnam concludes TPP negotiations with all concerned parties
Tuesday, August 4,2015AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam has concluded all bilateral negotiations with members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)'s Multi-border Commercial Policy Department (MCPD).
The MCPD reported that ministers of 12 TPP member countries gathered in Hawaii from July 28-31 to deal with remaining issues in TPP negotiations.
The Vietnamese delegation led by MoIT Minister Vu Huy Hoang had actively participated in the event and been ready to cooperate with other countries to end the negotiations.
Hoang held bilateral negotiations with US Trade Representative Michael Froman, Japanese State Minister in charge of the TPP Akira Amari, Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, and Mexican Secretary of Economy Ildefonso Guajardo.
He also had sideline meetings with Singaporean Minister for Trade and Industry Lim Hng Kiang and Canadian Minister for International Trade Ed Fast.
With these meetings, Vietnam concluded bilateral negotiations with all concerned countries.
At a recent press interview, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Van Nen said the Government has given guidelines to Vietnamese negotiators to persuade the US to recognise the country’s market economy and reduce barriers on Vietnamese products.
