Slovakia, Vietnam enhance trade cooperation
Friday, October 31,2014AsemconnectVietnam - A seminar to promote trade between Vietnam and Slovakia was held in the latter’s capital city Bratislava on October 29 in a bid to provide Slovakian businesses and financial institutions with information on Vietnam’s investment climate.
At the event, Nguyen Thang Long, Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, said two-way trade between Vietnam and Slovakia increased six- to seven-fold in the past 3 years.
The positive outcome laid a solid foundation for the future development of comprehensive cooperation between the two nations, he said.
In addition, he highlighted the need to offer the Slovakian business community more up-to-date information on Vietnam’s socio-economic conditions, adding that Vietnamese enterprises in Slovakia and the Czech Republic would play a vital role in promoting bilateral cooperation and investments.
On his part, Juraj Majtan, Director of Bratislava’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, spoke highly of the traditional cooperation between the two business communities, indicating that they shared a great potential for collaboration in the fields of machinery manufacturing, information technology and tourism.
Vietnamese products gained a strong market share in Slovakia in recent years, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Slovakia Ho Dac Minh Nguyet.
Miroslav Lajcak, Slovakian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, will pay an official visit to Vietnam from November 4-5 at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh.
He will be accompanied by representatives of big Slovak companies.
