Businesses join Paris food fair
Tuesday, October 21,2014AsemconnectVietnam - Sixteen Vietnamese small and medium sized business enterprises (SMEs) are marking their presence at the 50thSIAL Paris, the banner food event of France, being held on October 19-23 in Paris.
SIAL Paris, the world’s largest food innovation trade show, is a vitally important gateway for agricultural produce to get a foothold in the European market, said Dao Van Ho, Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) Agricultural Trade Promotion Centre.
Last year, Vietnam grossed US$27.5 billion in revenue from exporting farm produce and seafood products to the European market and this year’s revenues are forecast to jump to over US$30 billion, Ho said.
In just the first nine months of the year, the country has fetched revenues in excess of US$22.6 billion, Ho added.
Nguyen Van Sang from the West Food Processing for Export JSC, in turn said the fair will help his company learn more about the global consumer demand as well as Europe, which will lead to bolstering exports in the future.
For his part, Director of Long Son Joint Stock Company Nguyen Lesaid hiscompany has enhanced its image in the cashew nut export market as a result of its participation in SIAL Paris and most importantly, is receiving stable orders so far.
Vietnamese tropical fruit and vegetables which are highly favoured by European consumers are featured exports at the fair.
