 Thursday, February 4,2016

AsemconnectVietnam - Viet Nam’s ambassador to Israel Cao Tran Quoc Hai on February 2 presented his credentials to President Reuven Rivlin.

The Israeli President expressed his hope for increased cooperation between the two countries and praised Viet Nam’s potential and human resources, which is the reason why Israel receives hundreds of Vietnamese trainees in the field of agriculture every year.

For his part, the Vietnamese Ambassador briefed the Israeli President about the results of the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Ambassador Hai said with both countries’ potential and strengths in science, technology, and agriculture, two-way trade will soon surpass US$2 billion.

At the meeting, Hai also asked Israel to soon recognise Viet Nam as a market economy.
In the next month, Israel and Viet Nam plan to begin negotiations on a free trade agreement, which are expected to end after 2 years. The FTA will create favorable conditions for both countries’ businesses and asked Israel to recognize Viet Nam’s market economy status, Ambassador Hai said.
