Sweden, HCM City seek transport cooperation
Friday, November 27,2015AsemconnectVietnam - Swedish Deputy Minister for Infrastructure Erik Bromander and a delegation of transport businesses visited Ho Chi Minh City on November 26 to seek cooperation opportunities.
They were greeted by Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin the same day.
At the meeting, the Swedish businessmen shared their experience in managing and operating urban transport infrastructure and offered leading solutions in public transport.
The city’s leader shared development orientations for the local transport network.
Ho Chi Minh City is now home to about 10 million inhabitants, 70% of whom are using private vehicles. The city has set a goal of raising the use of public transport to 50% by 2020 and 80% by 2025, Tin said.
He agreed with the transport solutions offered by the Swedish side, however, elaborating that the choice of suitable technology needs to be examined carefully.
