Major commodities imported in first 10 months of 2015

AsemconnectVietnam - The major commodities imported by the country in October and the first 10 months of this year included:

Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts: The country imported $ 2.16 billion worth of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts in October and $ 22.92 billion in the first 10 months of this year. The figures were up by 4.2 per cent and by 25.8 per cent, respectively year – on - year.

The main import markets of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts in the first 10 months of this year were China with $ 7.43 billion, up by 17.2 per cent year – on – year; South Korea – $ 4.26 billion, up by 67.1 per cent; Japan - $ 3.87 billion, up by 29.7 per cent; and Taiwan - $ 1.2 billion, up by 1.6 per cent over the same period of 2014.

Computers, electronic products and components: Vietnam spent over $ 2 billion for import of computers, electronic products and components in October and $ 19.35 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 28.4 per cent compared with the same months of 2014.

The major import markets of computers, electronic products and components in the period were South Korea with $ 5.72 billion, up by 37.2 per cent year – on – year; China - $ 4.28 billion, up by 15.3 per cent; Japan - $ 1.9 billion, up by 26.8 per cent; Taiwan - $ 1.79 billion, up by 58.3 per cent; Singapore - $ 1.62 billion, down by 16.8 per cent.

Cell phones and accessories: Vietnam imported over $ 978 million worth of cell phones and accessories in October and $ 9.12 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 31.8 per cent compared with the same months of 2014.

The main import markets of cell phones and accessories in the period were China with $ 5.86 billion, up by 14 per cent year – on – year; and South Korea - nearly $ 2.65 billion, up by 83.8 per cent.

Iron and steel of all kinds: The country imported 1.48 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds worth of $ 557 million in October and 12.62 million tons worth of $ 6.28 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 34 per cent in quantity and 0.3 per cent in value year – on - year.

In the first ten months of this year, the country imported 7.71 million tons of iron and steel of all kinds from China, up by 62.1 per cent and accounted for 61.1 per cent of the total.   

Iron and steel products: The country imported nearly $ 276 million worth of iron and steel products in October and $ 3.26 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 30 per cent year – on - year.

The leading import markets of iron and steel products in the first 10 months of this year were China with $ 1.13 billion, up by 39.8 per cent year – on – year; and South Korea – over $ 910 million, up by 68.7 per cent.

Petroleum of all kinds: The import of petroleum of all kinds totaled 8.08 million tons worth of $ 4.47 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 11.4 per cent in quantity and down by 33.7 per cent in value over the same period last year.

The country’s top import markets of petroleum of all kinds in the first 10 months of this year were Singapore with 3.09 million tons, up by 34 per cent year – on – year; Thailand – 1.8 million tons, up by over 3 times; China – 1.28 million tons, down by 7.9 per cent; and Taiwan – 743,000 tons, down by 35.4 per cent.

Plastics: The import of plastics totaled 379,000 tons worth of $ 538 million in October and 3.16 million tons valued at $ 4.89 billion in the first 10 months of this year.

The country’s top import markets of plastics in the first 10 months of this year were South Korea with 615,600 tons, up by 18.2 per cent year – on – year; Saudi Arabia – 627,000 tons, up by 0.03 per cent; Taiwan – 467,000 tons, up by 12.5 per cent; and Thailand – nearly 313,000 tons, up by 19.9 per cent over the same period last year.

Plastic products: The import of plastics totaled $ 329,800 million worth of plastic products in October and nearly $ 3.11 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 20.5 per cent year – on - year.

The country’s top import markets of plastic products in the first 10 months of this year were South Korea with $917,620 million, up by 38.5 per cent year – on – year; China – over $ 928,000 million, up by 32.8 per cent; Japan – nearly $ 514.46 million, up by 0.7 per cent.

Textile, garment, leather and footwear of all kinds materials: The country’s import of textile, garment, leather and footwear of all kinds materials reached $ 1.59 billion in October and $ 15.29 billion in the first 10 months of this year, up by 7.6 per cent over the same period last year.

The major import markets of textile, garment, leather and footwear materials in the first ten months of this year were China with the import value of $ 6.3 billion, up by 12.7 per cent; South Korea - $ 2.32 billion, down by 1.5 per cent; Taiwan - $ 1.98 billion, up by 4.1 per cent year – on – year.

Animal feed and materials: Vietnam imported nearly $ 268 million worth of animal feed and materials in October and $ 2.82 billion in the first ten months of this year, up by 3.1 per cent over the same period last year. 

By the end of October, the country’s import of animal feed and materials from Argentina reached $ 1.2 billion, up by 10.4 per cent; from the U.S - $ 370.8 million, up by 11.7 per cent; from Brazil – nearly $ 250 million, up by 20.8 per cent. 

CBU automobile: Vietnam imported 13,960 CBU automobile worth of $ 230 million in October, up by 62.7 per cent in quantity and 17.1 per cent in value over the previous month. The figure brought the country’s total import of CBU automobile in the first ten months of this year to 97,320 units worth of $ 2.33 billion, up by 88.1 per cent in quantity and 101.8 per cent in value year – on – year.

China was the country’s biggest CBU automobile import market of Vietnam in the first ten months of this year with 21,050 units, up by 115 per cent. It was followed by South Korea with $ 20,790 units, up by 59.3 per cent ; Thailand – 20,330 units, up by 89.8 per cent; India – 17,540 units, up by 104.2 per cent.
