Export of farm, forestry and seafood products hit US$ 28 billion

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s export of farm, forestry and seafood products was estimated at US$ 28.2 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 12.1 per cent year – on – year, according to the latest report of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In November only, the export of farm, forestry and seafood products was estimated at US$ 2.66 billion. The export of key farm products was estimated at $ 13.19 billion, while the export of seafood was estimated at $ 7.22 billion, up by 19.3 per cent.

Rice: The country exported 443,000 tons of rice valued at $ 217 million in November and 6.03 million tons valued at $ 2.79 billion in the first 11 months of this year, down by 2.7 per cent in volume but up by 1.9 per cent in value over the same period last year. 

Coffee: In November, the country exported 72,000 tons of coffee worth of $ 165 million. The figure brought the country’s total coffee exports in the first 11 months of this year to 1.56 million tons valued at $ 3.26 billion, up by 33.4 per cent in volume and 32.2 per cent in value over the same period of 2013.

Germany and the U.S were still the biggest coffee export markets of Vietnam in the first 11 months of this year with the market shares of 13.45 per cent and 10.04 per cent, respectively.

Rubber:The country’s export of rubber was estimated at 11,000 tons valued at $ 166 million in November and 654,000 tons worth of $ 1.62 billion in the first 11 months of this year.

The average rubber export price in the first 10 months of this year reached $ 1,724 per ton, down by 26.65 per cent year – on – year. 

China and Malaysia were still leading in the list of the country’s biggest rubber export markets in the first 10 months of this year. However, the export to those markets saw decrease compared with the same period of 2013.

The export to China decreased by 2.48 per cent in volume and 27.78 per cent in value; that to Malaysia – down by 6.26 per cent in volume and 36.15 per cent in value.

Tea: Vietnam exported 11,000 tons of tea valued at $ 20 million in November and 121,000 tons valued at $ 206 million in the first 11 months of 2014, down by 5.2 per cent in volume and up by 0.3 per cent in value over the same period last year.

The average tea export price in the first ten months of this year was at $ 1,698 per ton, up by 5.33 per cent year – on – year.

Cashew nuts: The country’s export of cashew nuts was estimated at 24,000 tons valued at $ 161 million in November and 281,000 tons worth of $ 1.84 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 18.2 per cent in volume and 22.6 per cent in value year – on – year.

The average cashew export price in the first ten months of this year was estimated at $ 6,536 per ton, up by 3.23 per cent over the same period last year. The U.S, China and the Netherlands were still the country’s biggest cashew export markets, accounted for 32.79 per cent; 15.02 per cent; and 11.17 per cent of the total, respectively. 

Pepper: Vietnam’s export of pepper was estimated at 6,000 tons valued at $ 54 million in November and 151,000 tons worth of $ 1.162 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 18.1 per cent in volume and 35.7 per cent in value year – on – year.

The average pepper export price in the first ten months of this year was at $ 7,625 per ton, up by 14.26 per cent over the same period of 2013.

Wood and furniture: The export of wood and furniture was estimated at $ 556 million in November and $ 5.58 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 12.7 per cent over the same period last year. 

The export of wood and furniture to almost all key markets saw growth. The export to the U.S and Japan increased by 14.17 per cent and 19.47 per cent, respectively, but the export to China decreased by 9.37 per cent year – on – year.

Seafood: Vietnam earned $ 666 million from seafood export in November and $ 7.22 billion in the first 11 months of this year, up by 19.3 per cent over the same period of 2013.

The U.S was the country’s biggest seafood export market, accounted for 21.85 per cent of the total.

Cassava and products: Vietnam exported 244,000 tons of cassava valued at $ 92 million in November and 2.96 million tons worth of $ 994 million in the first 11 months of 2014, up by 3.2 per cent in volume over the same period last year.

China was still leading in the list of the country's major export markets of cassava and products in the first 11 months of this year with 84.27 per cent of the market share.
