AsemconnectVietnam - The Viet Nam Dairy Products Joint Stock Co. (Vinamilk) is one of five Vietnamese companies listed in the top ASEAN 100 by Nikkei Asian Review, a newswire that covers business in Asia.

The list included 25 companies from Singapore, 22 from Malaysia, 25 from Indonesia, 22 from Philippines and 25 from Thailand.

Four other Vietnamese firms are also in the list such as Vietcombank, FPT, PVGas, and Vingroup.

According to Nikkei Asian Review, Vinamilk is the Viet Nam's biggest dairy companies that make up half of the local market share. Its market capitalization is the second largest in Vietnam at around $5.5 billion.

Forbes magazine recently selected Vinamilk as one of the top 50 listed enterprises in Viet Nam. In ten months of this year, Vinamilk's revenue was VND26.924 trillion ($1.28 billion), contributing State budget of VND3.22 trillion, an increase of 8.78 per cent over the same period of last year.

In 2013-2014, Vinamilk opened two new factories in Binh Duong province with a total investment capital of over 4 trillion dong. Vinamilk invested 19.3 percent of shares at Miraka Plant in New Zealand. Its products are now present in more than 31 countries like Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Russia, Canada, U.S, Australia…Vinamilk’s export products include infant formula, nutritional powder, condensed milk, fresh milk, beverage, soy milk, yogurt. In three next years, Vinamilk aims to focus on exporting to markets as Middle East, Africa, Cuba and U.S. In 2014, Vinamilk officially open a factory in Cambodia with a total investment capital of US$23 billion

In addition to investing in new projects, Vinamilk also succeeds in investment and operation of a series of projects. In U.S, Vinamilk bought 70 percent of shares of Driftwood milk plant. Vinamilk gained 2,600 billion dong from this project in 2014. Driftwood is one of biggest milk plants in California and a milk supplier for school system in California.

Vinamilk wants to make it to the world’s top 50 largest dairy companies with annual sales revenue of $3 billion by 2017
