COVID-19 UPDATE: No new cases reported, total infections at 245
Tuesday, April 7,2020AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam reported no new cases of the coronavirus on the morning of April 7 as the total number of infections has still stayed at 245, while 95 patients have fully recovered.
This is the second morning Vietnam has seen no new coronavirus cases reported for the past three days.
The country’s latest date indicates 245 infections nationwide after four new cases were confirmed on April 6 afternoon.
Of the total 245 patients registered, 153 entered from pandemic-hit countries such as the US, Germany, France, the UK and several Asian countries.
92 people were secondary infections, of whom 62 were from domestic outbreak.
According to the Ministry of Health, 95 patients have fully recovered and received discharge from hospital.
The remaining 150 patients are being treated at 21 healthcare facilities across the country. There are still three severe cases, relying on ventilators and dialysis.
A further 62 patients have tested negative for the deadly virus, and 18 patients are expected to be released from hospital on April 7 after making a full recovery.
Warnings of public complacency
The low record numbers of registered cases show the government’s social distancing measures introduced a week ago have been taking effect.
However, experts warned if social distancing measures are not strictly implemented, infection numbers will rise again.
The past few days have seen people defy the order, with many people going out without face masks or gathering in large crowds for parties or public events.
Recalling the complex nature of the COVID-19 epidemic in the country, the Prime Minister on April 6 once again asked localities to deal with law-breakers to ensure epidemic prevention and control measures are fully observed.
