Imports from China face difficulties amid ncoV outbreak
Monday, April 6,2020AsemconnectVietnam - In the first two months of this year, the trade exchange between Vietnam and China faced many difficulties due to the outbreak of corona virus disease on a large scale.
The country’s imports goods from the Chinese market in February of 2020 dropped sharply by 32.73 per cent compared to the previous month, causing the total import value in the two months to decline, reaching only 9.29 billion USD.
Among commodity groups imported from China in the first two months of the year, there were two commodity groups with the import value of over 1 billion USD, accounting for the largest proportion of the country’s total import value. Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts accounted for 21.35 per cent of the total market share with 1.98 billion USD and the group of computers, electronic products and components accounted for 17.37 per cent of the total market share with 1.61 billion USD.
The next was phones of all kinds and components and fabric group, accounting for 9.57 per cent, reaching 888.95 million USD and 8.75 per cent, reaching 813.15 million USD. Of the 16 commodity groups with a turnover of hundreds of millions of USD, there were 5 groups saw slight growth, including plastic products increased by 17.95 per cent, reaching 371.03 million USD; chemical products by 14.46 per cent to reach 220.38 million USD; petroleum of all kinds increased by 25.44 per cent to 167.4 million USD; automobile components and spare parts increased by 10.73 per cent to 119.35 million USD; electric wires and cables increased by 9 per cent to 113.02 million USD. The remaining groups of items saw decrease in import value.
In February alone, Vietnam sped up the imports of coal of all kinds up to 5 times but the total import value of this commodity in the 2 months of 2020 still decreased by 84.86 per cent compared to the same period last year.
