Vietnam’s imports of LPG from South Korea increased

AsemconnectVietnam - At a meeting in February of 2020 of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh and the Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy of South Korea (MOTIE) Park Ki Young, the two sides continued to affirm their determination to work hard.

In order to realize the target of 100 billion USD of trade exchange between the two countries in 2020, as the leaders of the two countries set out, despite the global and regional economic situation, the region is facing many difficulties due to unpredictable movements of the disease Covid-19 broke out from China.
In the first two months of 2020, Vietnam's imports of goods from the Korean market increased slightly by 7.01 per cent to 7.85 billion USD. In particular, the group of computers, electronic products and components accounted for a large proportion of 38.97 per cent, reaching 3.05 billion USD; while the group of machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts accounted for 13.37 per cent of the market share, reaching 1.04 billion USD; mobile phones and accessories accounted for 12.97 per cent of the market share, reaching 1.01 billion USD. These were the only 3 commodity groups with the import value of a billion dollars with a growth rate of 5.42 per cent; 3.7% and 26.41%, respectively in the first two months of the year.

The Korean side affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner and hopes that Vietnam will become a key link in the supply chain of Korean enterprises, especially in the field of automobile and electronics production. Vietnamese enterprises are also interested in diversifying import markets and expect Korea to become a partner to supply Vietnam's raw materials and inputs, especially for the three main industries of Vietnam at the present like textiles, footwear, wood processing, etc.
In February of 2020 alone, Vietnam sped up the imports of liquefied natural gas from South Korea, resulting in an outstanding growth of 529.28 per cent in import value to 563,988 USD.
Petrol and oil group in February saw a decrease of 27.97 per cent to only 85 million USD, but in the first two months of the year, the imports of this item increased strongly by 105.63 per cent to 202.78 million USD.
