Vietnam’s GDP growth in 2019 and socio-economic development plan for 2020

 Thursday, October 24,2019

AsemconnectVietnam - According to Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) growth is expected to exceed 6.8% this year, backed by robust exports and foreign investment.

Expectation for Vietnam’s GDP growth in 2019
The country is targeting a GDP growth of 6.8% and will keep inflation below 4% next year, Mr. Phuc said at a meeting of the National Assembly, the country's lawmaking body.
Vietnam's foreign exchange reserves have reached $73 billion, a record high, he added.
Phuc said, however, that Vietnam has an open economy and is exposed to external risks. The country's pace of privatisation of state-owned enterprises and pace of budget spending on infrastructure have been slower than expected, Phuc also said.

Expectation for Vietnam’s export and import turnover in 2019
Viet Nam's import - export turnover was on target to hit 500 billion USD this year, said director of the General Department of Customs Nguyen Van Can.
There were nearly 100,000 enterprises involved in imports and exports nationwide, he said.
The department said that as of September, total import-export turnover for the whole country had reached more than 382.16 billion USD.
If this continued, the country's import and export turnover would reach 510 billion USD by the end of the year.
Generally speaking, imports and exports usually climb at the end of the year thanks to national holidays like National Day (September 2), New Year (January 1) and then Tet (Lunar New Year).
The country's total import-export turnover reached only 243.5 billion USD in the first six months. But entering the third quarter, total turnover reached 138.7 billion USD. If this continues, the total annual turnover will reach over 520 billion USD for the year.
