Exports of phones and accessories reached over 27 billion USD in 7 months
Saturday, August 17,2019AsemconnectVietnam - In the export basket of goods in the first 7 months of 2019, phones and components continued to lead the turnover, reaching 27.48 billion USD, up by 3.8 per cent compared to the same period of 2018.
In July alone, the country’s exports of this commodity reached 3.9 billion USD, up by 5.6 per cent compared with June of 2019 - this was the second consecutive month the exports of phones and accessories increased, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Vietnam exported of phones and components to over 50 countries and territories in the world, the exports to 13 per cent of those markets reached over 1 billion USD, , including the exports to the US, South Korea, the UAE, China, Austria, England and Germany. The US was leading with the turnover of 4.8 billion USD, up by 77.93 per cent compared to the same period of 2018. In July of 2019 alone, the country’s exports of phones and accessories to the US reached 696.86 million USD, an increase of 68.39 per cent compared to June of 2019 and an increase of 77.93 per cent compared to July of 2018.
South Korea ranked second with the export turnover of 2.81 billion USD, up by 7.17 per cent. In July of 2019 the exports of phones and accessories to South Korea reachred 446.66 million USD, up by 34.31 per cent compared to June of 2019 and up by 14.36 per cent compared with July of 2018.
It was followed by the UAE, China, Austria, England and Germany - however, the export turnover to these markets decreased compared to the same period last year. The expors to Austria decreased by 28.7 per cent; to China – down by 26.96 per cent; to Germany - decreased by 11.33 per cent and to Britain - decreased by 8.02 per cent. Moreover, in July of 2019, the export turnover also decreased compared to June of 2019, only the exports to the UAE and Austria increased by 4.5 per cent and 2.25 per cent respectively.
The number of markets with export turnover of over USD 100 million accounts for 62.96 per cent of the total.
In general, in the first 7 months of this year, the speed of exports of phones and components to several markets has declined, these markets accounted for 61.11 per cent of the total. The exports to Cambodia market decreased the most by 99.64 per cent to 60,100 USD; to Malaysia - fell by 38.09 per cent to only 226.35 million USD. In July of 2019, the exports of phones and accessories to Malaysia also decreased by 67.7 per cent compared to June of 2019 and decreased by 80.74 per cent compared to July of 2018 to 10.99 million USD.
In contrast, in the first 7 months of 2019, the country’s exports of cell phones and accessories to Italy strongly by 2.6 times (corresponding to 157.93 per cent), although only reached 707.45 million USD and to Mexico - increased by 4.7 times (367.33 per cent respectively) reaching 232.64 million USD. Particularly in July of 2019, the exports of phones and accessories decreased by 15.26 per cent and 7.04 per cent respectively to 97.63 million USD and 41 million USD.
Notably, the export market of mobile phones and components in Vietnam in the first 7 months of 2019 has some emerging markets, in which exports to Chile and Canada markets have reached the highest turnover, with 220.54 million USD; 326.05 million USD, respectively; followed by markets with turnover of over 10 million USD, including Argentina - 70 million USD; Bangladesh - 52.51 million USD; Panama 44.62 million USD.
