Exports of iron and steel increased in first four months
Wednesday, May 22,2019AsemconnectVietnam - According to the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports of iron and steel in March of 2019 increased by 20.9 per cent in volume and 25.9 per cent in value compared with the previous month.
The iron and steel export prices in April of 2019 reached 656.6 USD per ton, down by 0.6 per cent compared to March of 2019 and down by 14.5 per cent compared to April of 2018. The average iron and steel export price in the first 4 months of 2019 reached 644.8 USD per ton, down by 12.6 per cent over the same period last year.
However, export price to this market fell by 6.4 per cent, reaching 596.3 USD per ton.
The exports to Malaysia market reached 243,573 tons, equivalent to 148.35 million USD, accounting for 10 per cent of the total volume and total value, up by 2.1 per cent in volume but down by 6.1 per cent in turnover over the same period last year. The export price decreased by 8 per cent to 609 USD per ton.
However, exports increased sharply in some markets such as Saudi Arabia - down by 281 per cent in volume and 310.5 per cent in turnover, reaching 4,532 tons, equivalent to 3.03 million USD; to Pakistan - increased by 230 per cent in volume and 169 per cent in turnover, reaching 30,461 tons, equivalent to 14.71 million USD; to China - increased by 849.4 per cent in volume and by 263.6 per cent in turnover, reaching 33,067 tons, equivalent to 17.99 million USD; to the Philippines - increased by 210 per cent in volume and 154 per cent in turnover, reaching 121,947 tons, equivalent to 60.26 million USD.
