Over US$7.24 billion spent on petroleum imports in 11 months
Wednesday, December 19,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam imported 10.7 million tons of petroleum worth of US$7.24 billion in the first 11 months of this year, showed the preliminary statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
The average petroleum import price in the first 11 months of this year reached $676.8 per ton, up by 25.4 per cent over the same period last year.
Malaysia was the country’s biggest petroleum import market in the period with 3.12 million tons worth of $1.97 billion, up by 34.8 per cent in quantity and 81.2 per cent in value year – on – year.
In the first 11 months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of petroleum from South Korea reached 2.38 million tons worth of $1.76 billion, down by 11.2 per cent in quantity but up by 5.2 per cent in value over the same period last year.
The imports of petroleum from Singapore in the first 11 months of this year decreased sharply by 44.3 per cent in quantity and 27.6 per cent in value to 2.27 million tons worth of $1.46 billion.
Meanwhile, the imports of petroleum from China increased sharply by 50.8 per cent in quantity and 101.4 per cent in value year – on – year to 1.33 million tons worth of $927.96 million; from Thailand – down by 18 per cent in quantity but up by 7.8 per cent in value to 1.31 million tons worth of $898.97 million; and from Russia – rocketed by 239 per cent in quantity and 430.3 per cent in value to 99,214 tons worth of $90.43 million.
