Exports to India increased sharply in first nine months

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports of goods to India totaled US$5.1 billion in the first nine months of this year, increased sharply by 88.34 per cent over the same period last year, and accounted for 2.8 per cent of the country’s total export turnover, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In September only, the country’s exports of goods to India reached $617.1 million, down by 4.61 per cent over the previous month but up by 64.62 per cent over the same month of 2017.
Machines, equipment and spare parts were leading the list of items exported by the country to India in the first nine months of this year with the export turnover of $1.4 billion, up by 5.9 times or 493.76 per cent over the same period last year.
It was followed by telephones and components with $660.7 million, up by 57.76 per cent; and then computers, electronics and components; ordinary metals; and chemicals, etc.
Especially, the country’s exports of bamboo, rattan, sedge and carpet products to India rocketed by 15.9 times or 1,492.22 per cent to $3.9 million.
Besides, the exports of iron and steel products to India increased by 3.2 times to $151.6 million; plastic products – up by 2.4 times to $31.3 million; and means of transport and spare parts – up by 2.3 times to $152.8 million.
However, the exports of tea to India decreased sharply by 63.15 per cent in quantity and 70.11 per cent in value to 577 tons worth of $546,600.
The exports of steel to India also increased by 9.61 per cent in quantity and 19.12 per cent in value to 133,300 tons worth of $113.5 million.
