Vietnam’s imports and exports of seafood in 4 months

AsemconnectVietnam - Vietnam’s exports and imports of seafood both saw year – on – year growth in the first four months of this year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Exports of seafood reached US$ 2.45 billion in four months
Vietnam’s exports of seafood totaled US$ 2.45 billion in the first four months of this year, increased by 13.8 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In April only, the country’s export of seafood reached $ 684.22 million, down by 2.6 per cent over the previous month but up by 6.3 per cent over the same month of last year.

In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of seafood to EU reached $ 423.05 million, up by 24.3 per cent year – on – year and accounted for 17.3 per cent of the total; to the U.S - $ 378.33 million, up by 4.8 per cent; to Japan - $ 376.36 million, up by 4.7 per cent; to China - $ 291.39 million, up by 27 per cent; to South Korea - $ 242.87 million, up by 21 per cent; to the South East Asian countries - $ 195.36 million, up by 17 per cent.

In the first four months of the year, the country’s exports of seafood to Turkey increased sharply by 141.4 per cent to $ 2.93 million; to Cambodia – up by 110.8 per cent to $ 8.43 million; to Pakistan – up by 95.5 per cent to $ 11.56 million; to Egypt – up by 88.9 per cent to $ 11.88 million; to the Netherlands – up by 60.2 per cent to $ 94.71 million; and to Sweden – up by 59 per cent to $ 5.99 million.
However, the exports of seafood to Indonesia decreased sharply by 55.7 per cent to $ 1.35 million; to Brazil – down by 37.9 per cent to $ 29.09 million; to Czech – down by 34.5 per cent to $ 2.17 million; to Saudi Arabia – down by 34 per cent to $ 13.7 million; and to Ukraine – down by 27.9 per cent to $ 3.28 million.
 
Seafood imports increased nearly 27 per cent in first four months
Vietnam’s imports of seafood in the first four months of this year totaled US$ 532.98 million, increased by 26.7 per cent over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In April only, the imports of seafood reached $ 126.27 million, down by 5.8 per cent over the previous month but up by 24.3 per cent over the same month of 2017.

India was the country’s biggest seafood import market in the period, accounted for 21.9 per cent of the total with $ 116.88 million, up by 8 per cent year – on – year. Meanwhile, the imports of seafood from Norway reached $ 58.23 million, up by 88.6 per cent; from the South East Asian countries - $ 39.68 million, up by 47.2 per cent; from China - $ 33.62 million, down by 12 per cent; from Japan - $ 31.29 million, up by 34 per cent.
In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s imports of seafood from Myanmar decreased by 53.7 per cent to $ 0.8 million; from Denmark – down by 32.5 per cent to $ 6.41 million; and from China – down by 12 per cent to $ 33.62 million.

However, the imports from the Philippines increased sharply by 139.5 per cent year – on – year to $ 2.92 million; from Malaysia – up by 127.8 per cent to $ 2.19 million; from Chile, Norway, Indonesia, Poland and Canada increased by 91.4 per cent; 88.6 per cent; 74.6 per cent; 65.7 per cent and 60 per cent, respectively.
