Vietnam’s exports of crude oil and imports of petroleum in four months

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s exports of crude oil fell sharply while the imports of petroleum increased moderately over the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

Exports of crude oil fell over 40 per cent in quantity
Vietnam’s exports of crude oil totaled 1.22 million tons worth of $ 649.16 million in the first four months of this year, down by 40.1 per cent in quantity and 25.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
In April only, the country’s exports of crude oil reached 230,257 tons worth of $ 128.29 million, down by 28 per cent in quantity and 22.8 per cent in value compared with the previous month. The figure was down by 56 per cent in quantity and 43.9 per cent in value compared with the same period last year.

In the first four months of this year, the country’s exports of crude oil to China reached nearly 317,877 tons worth of $ 170.32 million, decreased by 62 per cent in quantity and 52 per cent in value year – on – year.

The exports of crude oil to Thailand reached 215,370 tons worth of $ 116.69 million, down by 45.2 per cent in quantity and 30.8 per cent in value; to Thailand – down by 5.8 per cent in quantity but up by 16 per cent in value to 185,105 tons worth of $ 99.07 million; to the U.S – up by 294 per cent in quantity and 382 per cent in value; to Malaysia – up by 72.9 per cent in quantity and 105.4 per cent in value to 77
The exports of crude oil to the U.S increased sharply by 294 per cent in quantity and 382 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 132.671 tons worth of $ 68.42 million. While the exports of crude oil to Malaysia increased by 72.9 per cent in quantity and 105.4 per cent in value to 77,848 tons worth of $ 41.16 million.

However, the country’s exports of crude oil to Singapore in the first four months of this year fell sharply by 70.5 per cent in quantity and 65 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 67,709 tons worth of $ 33.66 million.
 
Imports of petroleum increased botth in quantity and in value in four months
Vietnam imported over 4.36 million tons of petroleum worth of US$ 2.82 billion in the first four months of this year, up by 9.6 per cent in quantity and 31.3 per cent in value compared with the same period of 2017, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.

In April only, the country imported over 976,336 tons of petroleum worth of $ 631.54 million, down by 20.4 per cent in quantity and 19.4 per cent in value compared with the previous month. The average petroleum price in April reached $ 646.8 per ton, up by 1.2 per cent compared with the previous month and by 25.1 per cent over the same month of 2017.  

The average petroleum price in the first four months of this year was at $ 645.5 per ton, up by 19.8 per cent compared with the same period last year.
South Korea was the leading import market of petroleum in the first four months of this year, accounted for 26.5 per cent of the total quantity and 28.6 per cent of the total value with 1.16 million tons worth of $ 807.06 million, up by 17.2 per cent in quantity and 33.4 per cent in value year – on – year.
The imports of petroleum from Malaysia totaled 1.3 million tons worth of $ 767.83 million, increased sharply by 69.4 per cent in quantity and 114.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year. The figure accounted for 29.9 per cent of the total quantity and 27.3 per cent of the total value.

The country’s imports of petroleum from Singapore accounted for 21 per cent of the total quantity and 19.7 per cent of the total value with 914,394 tons worth of $ 554.31 million, down by 44.6 per cent in quantity and 32.9 per cent in value.
Meanwhile, the imports from Russia rocketed by 830 per cent in quantity and 1,192 per cent in value year – on – year to 48,804 tons worth of $ 41.87 million.

The imports of petroleum from Thailand also increased sharply by 96.2 per cent in quantity and 141.7 per cent in value compared with the same period last year to 394,053 tons worth of $ 249.52 million.
