Vietnam – Laos trade exchange increased slightly

AsemconnectVietnam - The bilateral trade exchange between Vietnam and Laos reached US$ 892.9 million in 2017, increased by 8.5 per cent over the previous year, showed the statistics figures of the General Department of Customs.
Last year, the country got $ 156.1 million of surplus in trade exchange with Laos.
In 2017, Vietnam exported $ 524.5 million worth of goods to Laos, up by 9.7 per cent year – on – year.
Petroleum was leading the list of items exported by the country to Laos last year with 158,700 tons worth of $ 88.6 million, up by 1.4 times compared with the same period last year. It was followed by iron and steel of all kinds with 108,900 tons worth of $ 74.4 million; and then means of transport and spare parts with $ 52.7 million.

In 2017, Vietnam imported $ 368.4 million worth of goods from Laos, up by 6.8 per cent year – on – year.
The leading items imported by the country from Laos in 2017 were fertilizer of all kinds with 217,600 tons worth of $ 46.7 million, up by 19.7 per cent year – on – year; ores and minerals - 492,000 tons worth of $ 27.8 million, down by 15.7 per cent; wood and furniture - $ 42 million, down by 46.8 per cent.
