 Friday, March 17,2023

AsemconnectVietnam - In the first two months of 2023, in the list of 46 key export products of Vietnam, only 9 export items grew positively compared to the same period last year.

The General Department of Customs has just announced the export data of each major commodity in February and the first two months of the year. Accordingly, out of 46 key export products of Vietnam, only 9 items grew positively over the same period in the first two months of 2022.
Of the 9 items that recorded positive growth, petroleum of all kinds was the item with the highest increase compared to the same period of 2022, with an increase of 18.5%. The second place was vegetables and fruits, up by 12.4%; electric wires and cables increased by 9.6%. The remaining items with growth below 6% include: means of transport and spare parts; phones and accessories; toys, sports equipment and parts; chemical products; crude oil; and rice.
In terms of export value, phones and components led the list with 9.2 billion USD since the beginning of the year. This is also an item that still retained its "performance" when it did not fall into the negative growth group. According to the latest data from the General Department of Customs, the total export turnover from the beginning of this year to now has increased by 5.2% over the same period last year.
In the opposite direction, the items that recorded the strongest decline were fibers and textile yarns of all kinds with a decrease of 38.4%; furniture products made of materials other than wood decreased by 34.1% and wood and wood products decreased by 31.8%; aquatic products decreased by 29.1%; rubber down by 28.3%; iron and steel of all kinds decreased by 25.7%; chemicals down by 24%; plastic products down by 20.5%; textiles and garments down by 19.6%; raw materials for textile, garment, leather and shoes decreased by 16.6%; footwear of all kinds down by 16%; bags, wallets, suitcases, hats, and umbrellas down by 15.3%; iron and steel products down by 11.5%; computers, electronic products and components down by 10.9%; coffee down by 9.5%; cameras, camcorders and components down by 8.5%; cashew nuts down by 7.4%; other common metals and products decreased by 6.9%; other machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts decreased by 3.5%.
According to experts, the total value of export goods in the first two months of the year decreased by 10.4% over the same period last year, along with the weakening of the industrial production sector, showing that the health of the economy is facing great challenges. In fact, since the last months of 2022, export decline has taken place in many fields such as textiles and garments, leather and footwear; wood products and machinery, etc. In addition, the risk of US economic recession makes the situation even more difficult because this is the largest export market of many products of Vietnam.
