National women’s football championship changes format
Thursday, May 16,2019AsemconnectVietnam - The 2019 national women’s football championship marks a change in the competition’s regulations as each team will play all others in a two-round format, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Minh Chau.
Seven teams will participate in the championship, said the VFF at the draw and sponsorship announcement ceremony held in Hanoi on May 15.
The teams include Hanoi, Phong Phu Ha Nam, Son La, Ho Chi Minh City I and II, Than Khoang san Vietnam and TNG Thai Nguyen.
As Thai Son Bac Trading Co. Ltd continues to be the main sponsor of the football tournament, its official name will be 2019 Vietnam Women’s National Championship – Thai Son Bac.
In the three previous editions, the tournament was organised in a round-robin two-leg format to determine the four teams competing in the semi-finals and final.
This year, matches of the first round are scheduled to take place from June 10 to July 1 at the August 19 Stadium in Nha Trang city of the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, while those of the second round will be held from September 13 to October 4 at the Ha Nam Stadium in the northern province of the same name.
The champions will bring home a cash prize worth 300 million VND (12,850 USD) with a trophy and gold medals. The runners-up are set to receive 200 million VND and the third-placed team will earn half of that amount.
Other titles such as the Most Valuable Player, top scorer and goalkeeper will also be presented.
