Themed “The Quintessence of Jungle,” the festival aims to honour Vietnamese coffee products, especially Buon Ma Thuot coffee brand and geographic indication, in the global market, towards turning the city into a destination of the world’s coffee.
It has contributed to promoting potential and strength of Dak Lak, especially agriculture, processing and renewable energy, while enhancing friendship and cooperation between the province and localities of foreign countries and international organisations.
In his closing remarks, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuan Ha said with 17 major activities, the eight-day event attracted 50,000 visitors, including 6,000 foreigners.
Of note, many memoranda of understanding (MoU) were signed during the coffee exhibition, which accommodated 800 booths by 230 units, and lured 200,000 visitors.
The first-ever workshop on Vietnamese specialty coffee development in Dak Lak brought together 400 delegates who shared views on new path of domestic coffee, he said.
During the conference on trade promotion in Dak Lak, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, up to 38 projects with total registered capital of about 72 trillion VND (3.09 billion USD) got investment licences and decisions, and MoU.
The province also signed cooperation documents with the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Industry and Trade, and Agriculture and Rural Development.
Apart from cultural activities and folk games, thousands of festival-goers were treated to free coffee provided by 38 firms and household businesses.
Buon Ma Thuot coffee has been sold across over 60 countries and territories worldwide, contributing significantly to the country’s total coffee export, which hit nearly 1.9 million tonnes worth over 3.5 billion USD in 2018.
With a coffee area of over 200,000 hectares and an annual output of over 460,000 tonnes, Dak Lak is dubbed as the coffee capital of Vietnam.
