Vietnamese paintings exhibited in Netherlands
Wednesday, December 19,2018AsemconnectVietnam - Paintings portraying the landscapes of two cities, Hanoi and Kampen, by Hoang Ha Tung are being shown in an ongoing exhibition entitled Hanoi – Hoang Ha Tung – Kampen in Kampen, Netherlands.
The exhibition follows the success of the artist’s first show in the Netherlands, a 2017 exhibition featuring portraits of Vietnamese and Dutch farmers.
The works displayed this time were painted directly on the spot. They combine simple strokes with sophisticated colours to demonstrate the painter’s affection for the two cities that inspired him – Hanoi and Kampen.
In addition to landscape paintings, Tùng is also showing Toi (Nhung mien rieng biet) (Me – Separate Regions), telling fairy tales and legends and showcasing imaginary images painted on do (poonah) papers from his hometown.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Thi Hoa and the mayor of Kampen Bort Koelewijn attended the opening of Hanoi – Hoang Ha Tung – Kampen. The mayor welcomed the painter’s return to Kampen, adding that he was moved by Tung’s affection for the city, evident in his emotion-filled landscape paintings.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Hoa praised the artistic creativity and energy of the painter as well as the positive co-operation between artists of the two nations, highlighting the Stichting Work#art organisation that helped the Vietnamese painter bring images of Hanoi closer to Dutch arts lovers.
Hanoi – Hoang Ha Tung – Kampen is being held in Het Werk art centre and Gallery Huize Maria, the headquarters of Work#art.
Photos capturing the exhibition can be seen on the website and Youtube channel of Kampen City (kampen.online and www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLsZw_O02Fs).
The exhibition ends on December 19.
