Sao Mai Group to develop more value-added tra fish products

 Friday, March 23,2018

AsemconnectVietnam - Sao Mai Group has inked a cooperation agreement with the Research Institute for Marine Fisheries (RIMF) on technology transfer to process more value-added tra fish products.

The five-year agreement will help make Vietnamese tra fish more competitive on international markets and bring economic benefits for Sao Mai Group, fish farmers, the local agriculture sector and the economy as a whole.

Sao Mai, a pioneer in applying new technology and scientific and technical achievements, will produce lysine fish paste, smoked tra fish, canned tra fish, tra fish-based sausage and shortening for local consumption and export.
At the signing ceremony, Le Thanh Thuan, chairman of Sao Mai Group, said tra fish has been exported mainly in the form of fillets. To diversify products from the fish, researchers and enterprises should come up with effective solutions.
Sao Mai has adopted advanced technology to develop a tra fish value chain and Ranee high-grade fish oil is a typical product of the group. The cooperation between the group and RIMF demonstrates Sao Mai’s strategy to raise the added value of Vietnamese tra fish.
