Vietnam, China seek to boost cooperation in trade, logistics

 Friday, June 14,2019

AsemconnectVietnam - Some 200 businesses along with government officials from Vietnam and China attended a seminar aimed to seek ways of bolstering bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, and logistics, which took place in the Chinese province of Sichuan on June 13.

Addressing the event, Dang Minh Khoi, Vietnamese Ambassador to China, asserted that China is one of Vietnam’s most important trade and investment partners with the bilateral trade posting US$147.8 billion last year, up 21.2 per cent on year.
He underscored opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises and localities in Chengdu city - a significant economic, financial and technological hub in western China - with a population of nearly 91 million and the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increasing by 8 percent in 2018.
Li Yunze, Vice Governor of Sichuan province, highlighted the cooperation outcomes across fields, notably economics, trade and agriculture between Vietnam and China in general, and Vietnam and the Chinese province in particular.
He voiced his hope for further friendship exchanges and pragmatic collaboration with Vietnamese localities in the realms of education, culture, health care, and tourism.
The provincial official further said he has high expectations of the increasing trade volume between Vietnam and Sichuan province and further bilateral cooperation in logistics towards building up inter-regional logistics chains.
Li Yunze pledged his efforts in facilitating Vietnamese firms to develop their business in Sichuan, and high-quality investors from Sichuan to penetrate the Vietnamese market.
Also at the seminar, delegates raised discussion on opportunities and pitfalls for bilateral cooperation between the two countries in economy and trade, agriculture, and logistics.
China is one of the major and traditional importers of Vietnamese farm produce. In a bid to boost agro-forestry-fishery exports to the neighboring country, Vietnamese competent agencies have instructed localities and firms to take measures to better meet quality and food safety requirements of the Chinese market.
